BlackBerry non-operator NON ILEGAL

Masyarakat ternyata boleh-boleh saja jika ingin membeli ponsel semisal BlackBerry maupun iPhone yang dipasarkan tidak lewat jalur operator. Sebab, menurut PP No. 52/2001 tentang telekomunikasi, penyediaan terminal pelanggan disiapkan oleh pelanggan sendiri dan tidak wajib disediakan operator.

Direktur Standardisasi Perangkat Ditjen Postel, Azhar Hasyim, menegaskan demikian. "Jika mengacu pada PP tersebut, membeli ponsel bukan dari operator, kita jamin bukan hal yang ilegal," jelasnya kepada detikINET.

"Asalkan ponsel yang dibeli oleh masyarakat sudah kami berikan sertifikasi standardisasi perangkat dari Ditjen Postel," lanjutnya di sela kunjungan pabrik Wimax di Batam Industrial Park, Kamis (29/10/2009).

Pernyataan Azhar jelas bertolak belakang dengan kenyataan yang terjadi di pasaran. Research in Motion (RIM) selaku penyedia BlackBerry, dan Apple yang mengeluarkan iPhone, menilai produk yang tidak dipasarkan melalui

mitra operator sebagai barang black market (BM) yang ilegal.

RIM hanya menganggap BlackBerry tersebut resmi dan mendapatkan layanan purna jual jika pelanggan membelinya melalui Indosat, Telkomsel, Excelcomindo Pratama, Indosat Mega Media, dan Malifax Indonesia. Sementara BlackBerry yang dipasarkan melalui distributor dan importir paralel yang lain, dianggap sebagai barang BM.

Begitu pula dengan Apple. Perusahaan milik Steve Jobs itu hanya menganggap iPhone yang dipasarkan mitranya di Indonesia, Telkomsel, sebagai barang yang orisinal. Di luar itu, iPhone yang dibeli pelanggan akan dianggap sebagai barang BM versi jail break.

Sementara menurut Azhar, 49 distributor dan importir paralel yang memasarkan BlackBerry dinilainya sudah memenuhi standardisasi sertifikasi perangkat. Pun, seluruh distributor tersebut, tegas dia telah memiliki service center sebagai purna jual dan buku manual berbahasa Indonesia.

"Kalau mereka tidak bangun sudah pasti dicabut izinnya. Saya tinggal hapus database di NSW (national single window). Kalau data tidak ada di database, bea cukai tidak bisa keluarkan barang. Hal ini juga berlaku untuk RIM dan Apple.".

"Kemudian jika barang yang dipasarkan distributor itu dikatakan ilegal, tunjukan siapa distributornya. Semua ada datanya di Postel. Ada nomor labelnya. Kalau ada perangkat bermasalah, distributornya bisa dicari dan diminta tanggung jawab. Di situ bisa kita cabut izinnya. Bisa di-blacklist," tukas Azhar.

Menurut data dari operator, 80% dari 500 ribu pelanggan BlackBerry menggunakan perangkat yang tidak dibeli dari operator. Perangkat tersebut yang dianggap RIM sebagai barang BM.

Ia merasa aneh dengan kasus BlackBerry yang dianggap ilegal oleh RIM. Sebab, menurutnya, proses perizinan telah berjalan di Indonesia jauh sebelum BlackBerry marak dan laku keras seperti sekarang ini.

"Itulah anehnya. Bukan hanya sekarang. Sebelum marak, BlackBerry dari distributor sudah masuk ke Indonesia. Kenapa saat sudah marak harus dikembalikan. Kenapa pula jadi terikat satu operator."

"Jika ada wacana BlackBerry yang dibeli bukan dari operator adalah ilegal karena di luar negeri merupakan barang curian, tanya juga sama pihak RIM, kenapa bisa dibeli orang. Kalau memang mau dikontrol semua, kenapa RIM tidak bisa kendalikan yang di luar sana."

"Kalau memang dicuri, tolong buktikan. Orang luar sana dong yang dituntut. Mungkin mereka di luar sana jual murah, diskon price. Jangan di sini yang ditekan."

Jika pembelian ponsel tetap diwajibkan untuk harus melalui operator saja dan tidak diizinkan melalui distributor serta importir paralel, menurut Azhar, maka RIM beserta mitra operatornya bisa dikenakan sanksi berdasar PP No.52/2001 dan UU No 5/1999 tentang monopoli.

"Jadi jangan masyarakat dihalangi untuk berusaha cari ponsel yang mereka inginkan sendiri. Masak kita mau dikendalikan oleh vendor. Tidak boleh masyarakat dilarang hanya beli lewat operator. Itu ada di PP, lho. Masa kita mau dikendalikan RIM, itu melanggar aturan," pungkasnya.

Usia N-Gage bakal tak lama lagi setelah keputusan pahit dikeluarkan oleh manajemen Nokia. Setelah enam tahun berjalan, perusahaan asal Finlandia ini memutuskan untuk mengakhiri semua platform game untuk N-Gage, berikut layanan-layanan yang menyertainya.

Melalui blognya, Nokia mengumumkan kepada para penggunanya bahwa mereka tak akan lagi menerbitkan game baru untuk platform N-Gage, sekaligus bersiap menutup situs N-Gage.com beserta komunitasnya pada akhir tahun depan.

Sedang untuk penjualan game-nya masih akan dilanjutkan, meski sampai September 2010 saja.

Lantas bagaimana dengan nasib pecinta game yang merupakan pelanggan setia platform ini? Ternyata Nokia memiliki rencana di balik penumbalan N-Gage, yakni untuk mengalihkan semua ke toko aplikasi Nokia, Ovi Store.
"Sejalan dengan perkembangan mobile gaming, kami ingin menawarkan satu toko dengan sederet portofolio game yang lebih luas: game untuk semua orang. Memiliki satu tempat untuk semua mobile game merupakan suatu hal yang menyenangkan. Dan ini yang Ovi Store sediakan," tulis Nokia.

N900 Tak Berkembang Di Indonesia

Sejumlah negara di belahan Eropa tengah menyambut kedatangan Nokia N900. Sayangnya untuk Indonesia, nasib ponsel pintar yang dibekali dengan sistem operasi Linux Maemo ini masih belum jelas.

PS3 TURUN HARGA

Turunnya harga PS3 memang kabar menggembirakan untuk para pecinta game di dunia. Bukan itu saja, ternyata momen seperti itulah yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh Departemen Pertahanan Amerika Serikat untuk memborong PS3 dalam jumlah yang cukup besar. Kabarnya departemen tersebut telah memboyong 2.200 unit PS3.
Sejumlah unit PS3 ini memang sengaja dibeli untuk tujuan merancang supercomputer, yang mana dipercaya bahwa PS3 jauh lebih baik bila mereka harus membeli produk keluaran IBM. Selain harganya juga terpaut jauh, kebutuhan Departemen Pertahanan tersebut ternyata cukup dapat terpenuhi dengan PS3.
Ini memang bukan yang pertama dilakukan oleh Departemen Pertahanan yang mana telah menggunakan konsol PS3 untuk supercomputer-nya. Sejumlah unit konsol PS3 yang baru tersebut sengaja digunakan untuk melengkapi kebutuhan kekurangan yang ada dimana awalnya hanya tersedia 336 unit PS3 yang telah digunakan oleh Angkatan Udara Amerika Serikat. Menurut Justification Review Documents, pembelian yang dilakukan ini memang cukup sesuai budget yang dimiliki oleh Departemen Pertahanan.
Bayangkan saja, untuk memiliki satu server 1U yang dikonfigurasikan dengan dual processor berkecepatan 3.2GHz dibutuhkan biaya sekitar 8.000 USD atau sekitar 80 juta rupiah, sedangkan untuk membeli 2 unit konsol PS3 hanya dibutuhkan biaya 600 USD atau sekitar 6 juta rupiah. Sangat terpaut jauh sekali bukan harganya?!
Kalau dilihat dari segi performa, 1 sel processor berkecepatan 3,2GHz dapat memberikan lebih dari 200 GFLOPS, sedangkan konfigurasi Sony PS3 memberikan sekitar 150 GFLOPS, yang kira-kira sepuluh kali lipat perbedaan biaya per GFLOP sehingga bisa dipastikan bahwa memilih konsol Sony PS3 merupakan jalan terbaik yang dilakukan oleh pihak Departemen Pertahanan yang bisa digunakan untuk aplikasi HPC.

Universal Music has unveiled the world’s most expensive compact disc at a Japanese department store. The disc, entitled “Woman: Sweet 10 Diamond,” features eighteen songs by female recording artists including Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige and Nelly Furtado.

The disc’s real draw, though, is its case. Designed in Tokyo by Japanese jeweler Nagahori, the platinum case is studded with ten 2-carat diamonds arranged in a circle around the disc’s title.

The disc is on display at the Takashimaya department store in Tokyo and has a retail price of ￥10 million—just over US $100,000.

That certainly beats the glass CDs created by Japanese engineer Suenori Fukui by a long shot. Made to take advantage of the material’s transparency and scratch resistance, glass compact discs promised audio quality unattainable by plastic.

Most expensive CD

The first glass CD made available to the public was Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Air on G String,” sold by N & F Label for around $883. Judging by the lack of media attention in the years since it was released, though, you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for your favorite band’s entire discography to be released on glass.

IPS technology.

The iMac display is designed to look great from almost any angle. A technology called in-plane switching (IPS) makes this possible. Whether you’re sitting in front of the display or standing off to the side, you’ll get a perfect picture with superb color consistency and no loss of detail.

Apple engineers also implemented an intelligent control system that monitors temperatures and delivers just the right amount of airflow to critical components. And the three fans inside iMac have been tuned to be ultraquiet. The result of all this tinkering with heat and sound? A system that operates at 18 decibels when idle — so quiet, you hardly know it’s on.*
